Dear Mom and Dad

022208letter

I was going through family photos trying to find some images for my parent's memorial in Indiana. I found this note among my mother's albums. I was in third grade when I wrote it. I was excited about a carnival. I think I was trying to be clever by asking them to lend me money, as if I could ever pay it back. And then, to add icing to the cake, I ended the letter with I love you. The clincher. Worked every time.

That's beautiful and it brings a tear to my eye knowing the circumstances. Thanks for sharing.

"I want to go in the SPOOK HOUSE."

So very Scrapatorium. Some things never change!

You were such a nice kid, it seems - whatever happened to that kind of girl?

Sweet that she kept it! Documentation of your childhood. I found a note with my mother's things that I had written as a kid. It said something like "Riding my bike to Cindy's. Back in a while. Didn't vacuumm--sorry." I think she found the not vacuuming apology kinda funny. Anyway, your note is very cute! I keep notes that my children write also.

I adore the "pitch"!

A bit of small talk, down to business and then the love.

Sooo cute!

Love the note and your mom obviously loved it too (and you, very much). I am so, so sorry to hear about your parents. Take care of yourself. All best wishes for you and John coming to you from New England.

Things and food are always a good time in my book. :)

Wonderful, poignant and poetic. I continue to be moved by the way you use personal and found fragments to honor memory and celebrate the imagination.

i don't know why but
i am bawling after reading your letter. maybe because it was saved for so long by your loving parents. i am so sorry for your terrible, life altering losses. i will keep you in my thoughts.

I read the letter and had to forward it and this sie to my mom. Ahhh the memories.

Great site.
